Professional Development:
Restorative Practices

Educators Rising @CMTHS is dedicated to providing valuable professional development opportunities for our chapter members. This year, Educators Rising members were trained in Restorative Practices, using the International Institute for Restorative Practices curriculum. This is an on-going initiative beginning with formal training at the start of the school year, with regular "Restorative Circles" created and run by Educators Rising students in the SEA program. Additionally, Educators Rising members also have trained other student groups within CMTHS to use the Restorative Practices framework. The content below documents this work.

Description:  Educators Rising members enrolled in the SEA program participated in Restorative Practices training over the first 6 weeks of school this year. The goal of this training was to provide students with the resources and tools to become a restorative educator, one who understands how to build a strong classroom community where students not only develop a strong relationship with their teacher, but with their peers as well. As part of the process, students design and implement restorative circles in our class.
