Community Service & Events

The CMTHS Educators Rising Club has participated in many community service projects, partnerships and school events. The goal of our participation is three-fold: provide club members with leadership opportunitites in the field of education; grow our chapter; and give back to our local community. International Digital Postcard Pals
Dates:

Event Type: Joint Project with Suzhou North America High School, Suzhou Jiangsu, China
CMTHS EdRising Members Participating:10

Description: Educators Rising & the SEA program in the United States is partnering with Mr. Liu's class at Suzhou North America High School in China for an international digital postcard exchange. Once a month, students share postcards about their respective lives in and out of school. This exhange aims to promote global connections and cultural understanding.

Know Your Rights: Supporting our Immigrant Community

Description: CMTHS Educators Rising Club members are hosting this important event for our school and local community, which has an approximately 35% immigrant population. The Philadelphia Mexican Consulate will be coming to CMTHS to provide important information, resources, and support regarding current policies and legislation. Educators Rising members will provide child care for families.

CMTHS Open Houses: Explore & Discover Events

Description: CMTHS Educators Rising Club members volunteer at our Open House events, which are open to the community. These quarterly events offer students opportunities to share the work of the club, recruit new members, and perhaps most importantly, educate the community about the serious teacher shortage.

Description: Each year, Educators Rising hosts an alumni event at CMTHS. Alumni share their college experiences with current students and offer invaluable advice about navigating college life as an Education major and future teacher.

CMTHS Monthly Bulletin Board: Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Celebrations

CMTHS Foundation Gala @Elmwood Park Zoo

Description: This major fundraiser gala was a great opportunity for Educators Rising members to share their work with the local community. Students helped with set up and break down of the event. They also spoke about the teacher shortage and the importance of the Educators Rising mission to recruit for a more diverse teaching force.  We also enjoyed the giraffes!

CMTHS Hawk Fest

Description: Hawk Fest is a school-wide outdoor festival held twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring. All CMTHS students attend the festival. Educators Rising Club members run an art center at the event, giving all CMTHS students an opportunity to make block prints or try out silk-screen printing.
